About The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association ("Guide Dogs") has been supporting blind and partially-sighted people for over 80 years. It’s one of the best loved UK charities and today has over 4700 guide dogs working in the UK. Every year 1300 puppies are bred and trained by volunteers in order to develop the skills required to provide independence and mobility to visually-impaired people. On average this takes 6 months of work. And this is just the start of the work that Guide Dogs does; they also undertake a programme of campaigning and education on sight related issues.
